Roberto Mancini, former Italy national team coach, was interviewed at the Festival dello Sport in Parma. The former coach remembered Gianluca Vialli, who passed away last August, and spoke of a possible return to Sampdoria. "It could be, yes", Mancini said. "Vialli had always declared that he wanted to be the president of Sampdoria. I do not rule out a possibility, one day, of returning to the club blucerchiato". Mancini also remembered the hug with Vialli after the European Championship win: "We were at Wembley, 30 years after the defeat with Samp. Being there and knowing what we had achieved, aware of what could have happened after... In that hug there was everything". The former national team coach also spoke of Mario Balotelli, whom he defined as a "great player". "Certainly he has done everything to sabotage himself, because he could have done much more with the qualities he had. He is also a good boy, a good person. Not everyone knows him, and from outside they also give non-real judgments". Mancini also spoke of Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona, ahead of the World Cup: "For me Maradona was number 1, but we cannot certainly treat Messi like a figurine. And I believe that at the World Cup he can still say something".
