Sampdoria, Ricci: 'I want to win, if I had stayed with Luis Enrique...'. Sampdoria midfielder Matteo Ricci is ready to leave the team after three years. His contract expires in June and Ricci expects a new future. 'I'm calm because I know what I've given and what I can give. I want to discover my next step and win a championship again', Ricci said in an interview. Ricci was captain of Sampdoria for two years and played 80 games with the team. 'Sampdoria is destined to stay in Serie A and being captain there, with a crowd that gives you chills, is something that stays with you', Ricci said. Ricci was also called up to the National team in 2021, but was not called up for the last game. 'I grew up with a Totti poster in my room, but as soon as I realized my role was in midfield, Pirlo and De Rossi became my points of reference: having Andrea as a coach was a privilege', Ricci said. Ricci transferred to Sampdoria in 2021 after playing for Spezia and Frosinone. 'I loved the city, but there's regret for not being able to make the jump to a higher category', Ricci said.
