Sampdoria is currently searching for a new head coach following the announcement of Americo Branco as the sporting director. According to the latest reports, Fabio Pecchia is the frontrunner for the blucerchiati bench. With significant experience in Serie B, Pecchia has achieved three promotions to Serie A with Verona, Cremonese, and Parma. He has also worked as an assistant coach with Rafa Benitez at prestigious clubs like Napoli, Real Madrid, and Newcastle. Pecchia has not coached since February 2025, after being dismissed by Parma. Interestingly, he also played for Sampdoria during the 1998-1999 season. In addition to Pecchia, Davide Possanzini, former coach of Mantova, and several foreign profiles are also in the mix. However, it seems that Branco and Fredberg are pushing hard to finalize the deal with Pecchia as soon as possible to start planning for the upcoming season. Attilio Lombardo, currently under contract until 2028, may remain with the club, entering the new coach's technical staff. The situation is evolving and will be closely monitored in the coming weeks.
